Jasu Rawal
Jasu Rawal (b. 1939) is a distinguished artist whose career spans over five decades, celebrated for his evocative minimalist and surrealist compositions. A graduate of M.S. University, Baroda, Rawal's artistic philosophy is deeply rooted in Paul Klee's belief that "art does not reproduce what is visible, instead it makes it visible." His work, which evolved from early figurative pieces to his signature abstract style, features delicate forms and dream-like landscapes, often depicted as floating worlds with intricate patterns of dots, lines, and textures. Rawal's vibrant palette, encompassing intense orange-reds, yellows, blues, and greens, serves as a powerful language of expression, inviting viewers to interpret the mood and meaning of his often "Untitled" pieces. With over 50 exhibitions in India and internationally, including solo shows in London and France, his paintings are held in numerous private collections worldwide. A four-time recipient of the Karnataka Lalit Kala Academy Award, Jasu Rawal continues to create compelling art from his studio in Bengaluru.
