Ramesh Gorjala
Ramesh Gorjala is a contemporary Indian artist from Srikalahasti, Andhra Pradesh, born into a family of weavers and deeply influenced by the traditional art of Kalamkari. He studied painting at Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University, Hyderabad. His intricate works primarily depict mythological figures like Hanuman, Ganesha, Vishnu, and the Buddha, blending spirituality with symbolism. Gorjala's art is known for its fine detailing, layered narratives, and use of fragments of sacred texts. He reinterprets traditional forms using acrylics and mixed media, creating a harmonious balance of color, imagery, and narrative. His excellence has earned him notable awards, including the 2000 Mahatma Gandhi Birth Centenary Memorial Award and the 2002 State Award from the A.P. Crafts Council. His work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally, with solo shows in New Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Bangalore.
